I'm looking for a good codec for windows media player to play M4V. I have some videos that are in my itunes library that i want to be able to play on my PS3. anyone know of where i can get a good one thanks

I am not too familiar with the tech situation.

Why are you stuck with Windows Media Player....it blows.

well the ps3 uses windows medis player as a media server to stream shit from the computer

after looking up more i found that when the apple TV came out they change the security on the M4V files and you can no longer play them in media player but i'm still working on it.

Is it a itunes protected format?

Also m4v is a container, are your files h.264?

I used to install http://www.cccp-project.net/ cccp to handle all codecs on the windows side that and VLC takes care of it. Plus windows 7 bakes in some good codec support.

Yeah Grah is right that one works for everything I've been using it for a long time. Works well with the Xbox as well.
