I work for a hobbyist supplier for microcontrollers/sensors, and they are giving away $100,000 worth of free stuff on Jan, 7th. $100 per person. I got their Arduino starter kit & Beginning Arduino book a few weeks back, and it's been a lot of fun so far! So much so that I intend to participate in the autonomous vehicles competition next year...

Anyways, check out what they've got.

Do what I did and get the Arduino Starter kit and the Book. The book is really short, but it's a lot better than Sparkfun's tutorials. The kit has several sensors/parts/LEDs and it's an excellent way to get your feet wet.

Just saw this now...yea I always thought these were the best courses in school. Microcontrollers and Embedded Systems. It was always fun to get rid of all the levels of abstraction -- always felt more rewarding that high level code. If I had time for another hobby besides gaming, working out and beating off this would probably be it.

We have 2,200 people in our public IRC at this moment, our servers are getting HEAVILY raped, and we are currently 3rd most popular Google search.

I may have underestimated the power of free stuff on the internet...

[edit]Now we're # 1, 4, 6, & 10 searches on Google.
