REAPER BUFF YES.

This reaper buff changes a LOT imo.

It means that toss players need to either get cannons or stalkers VERY fast. That speed buff is insane. I love the damage that reapers do, their armor though . . . I had a probe fart next to one and it died :)

As a terran player, the reaper change is nothing.

Why? Because if you are reaper rushing, you aren't worried about getting the speed upgrade..maybe against zerg, but against protoss, its useless. Stalkers can kill them with or without the speed buff, and they can kite zealots with or without it.

@daayou

Actually it doesn't change very much. At least not in 1v1 and 2v2. It increases their movement speed for the cost of one reaper.

And people who are reaper rushing in 1s and 2s are already very scarce on resources. They're committing the entirety of their resources to additional reapers, or spare resources are being used to catch up economically.

Now in 3s and 4s, this is going to be sweet, where a player can continue to commit to reapers and take a larger hit to their personal economy. The movement speed cost decrease means they can push to it earlier and harass multiple opponents quickly.

But in 1s and 2s, no change.

u can probably catch a lot of protoss players off guard with reapers tho, if u plan out ur gas gathering with minerals u can actually pump out a few reapers and possibly get the upgrade before the toss players starts to build stalkers

usually u see toss players pick up 3-4 zlots before they move onto stalkers

None of what you said is true.

Also, nitro research is 100 game seconds (2.5 reapers as reference). There is no way that is considered a reaper rush anymore

Also 2, one stalker can kill 3+ reapers

I'm watching a live stream, i don't think you can be placed into diamond anymore. You might start at platinum but you need to work your way to diamond... although i'm not sure. The guy went 5-0 in placement.

I agree with Sarana's post above. Fast stalker is almost just as fast as 6rax reaper. Ask Nao and Phegus.

A Protoss who is adequately skilled and prepared for a 6rax reaper rush laughs off the Terran player and wins in both economy and tech.

I've gone 4-1 in multiple leagues, 1v1, 2v2, etc and gotten placed silver. Does the ranking look at anything other than win/loss to place you? Like final score, or your graphs or game time? Maybe this way they can more simply place people by their win/loss record and you have to work your way into diamond making it more top tier.

I think it was 4v4 where we went 4-1 but lost to a diamond player and still got placed in diamond.

It definitely considers the opponents skill level when doing your placement but no one really know how it works

So it looks like they changed a few units so when you upgrade their weapons it doesn't upgrade the bonus damage they do vs. light. Is this pretty uniform across the board now, or are their units that get that bonus upgraded still? Like if you upgraded an immortal it's bonus to damage vs. armored would go up too still?

@balthor, it's kinda hit and miss. Stalkers don't get their bonus damage increases, but Immortals do. I can't remember off the top of my head which units do and don't.

The siege tank change is definitely the most significant in this patch. I don't really get the point of the Reaper change. I know they're trying to give them more utility outside of the first 3 mins of the game, but I don't know that this will really help. The whole idea behind them was fast, hit-and-run tactics for knocking out expos. The rest of the game right now has so much mobility though that they don't really offer anything terribly unique. Referring back to our other thread, the only thing they do have is their extremely high damage to light units, but speed doesn't change that. Where I see them being really useful is in larger maps (especially if they make a few that aren't shared base layout) for hitting expos when the rest of the battle is happening somewhere else.

Most toss players that are suspecting reapers will go 1 zealot while the cyber core builds, then stalker (CB'd if the reapers show up before it's done).
