View Full Version : Your neighbor's house is worth HOW MUCH???

I saw this news article on Dateline NBC about this new website that has free house estimates for most of the houses in the US (It had where I live at least.)

I found myself looking and searching on this site for a few hours at work, wondering how much that house is worth up the street, my old house where I grew up was worth, etc. Thought some other people might get a kick out of it as well. You dont even need to sign in, you just plug in addresses and away you go. Pretty cool site with stats for stat geeks like myself.

Wow, my house is worth more than all the other houses on my streeet alot by almost 100k.

And is 106 years old :)

Yeah that site has been around for a bit. It gives some false numbers though. It has my house appraised at about 300k more than it was appraised 3 months ago. It has my old house appraised at 1.7m less than it was 10 months ago. So I don't trust it further than I can throw it.

Why wtf? the 106 Years old? or the fact it costs more than the neighbors?

I live in an older area of Boston, the majority of the houses in my area are all about 100 years old, though they were built well and the owners have taken good care of them.

No Pool.

I didn't realize it until I saw the pictures from the sky my house is actually larger than all the others, just a little thicker, therefore more space means more money.

My house is pretty close, but then again, it's a lot harder to screw up lower value homes.

I wish I wasn't moving :(.

My Parents bought it in 87 so it was much less back then...wow, Lived there almost 20 years..
