So, I have DVD shrink to rip the DVD files. How do I get the files that it produces and make them into mpeg or quicktime?

I won't be much help to you because i have no knowledge of DVD shrink. I use Handbreak, it lets you export out as pretty much whatever you want.

Just get Alcohol 120% man. It makes images of anything you can throw at it and allows you to create virtual CD/DVD drives on your computer that you can load the images on and run them as if you had a real hard copy of the disc.
Its really great for when you download games online to uh..... sample the content before you purchase them legally. Once you have the image downloaded you dont have to burn it to a disc. Just load it on the virtual drive and you are good to go.

I am actually looking to export them as mpegs/quicktime, because they are films for the movie I need to apply special effects to...so it's 100% legal cause I own the footage, but I gotta do more than just watch it.

There are quite a few tools that will do this.
Here is a walkthrough for VOB to Quicktime on a Mac.

If you want to go Divx, which I prefer, just go to Divx.com. There is a divx converter, and I do believe it will read .vob files.
The real question is what are you trying to do? DVD's offer menus. That is what currently sucks in Divx and in Quicktime. You also have subtitle issues as well.

In dvd shrink you can reauthor your dvd and just rip out the main track which Then go to compression settings and only select 1 audio track and get rid of all the subpictures. then backup.
It'll make a VOB which is actually just an mpeg2. so just rename it mpg
Thats the quick and dirty way.

Telar wins for the easiest method. I will try it when I get home...6 day work weeks blow...
RipIT4Me is a very quick and easy way to rip mass dvd's with various methods of protection that DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter cannot handle (although it also uses these programs when needed).
Very easy to use, and is free - http://www.ripit4me.org/

Thanks everyone. So I followed Telars method, only problem, the footage is fliped upside down, I can most likely just fix this in premiere though
