Has anyone done a MS Certification exam? How does it work?

I took an assessment for Professional Web Developer today. I got 50% LOL

So it told me to take like 10 classes that cost $40 each. Yeah right.

Those certs are so outrageously priced. I would only take one if my employer paid for the training.

I took the Cisco Networking certification test once. Got like a 68% on the exam, needed something like 70 or 75% to pass.....sad times all around.

Didn't pay a dime for it, though ^^

I took the first part of my A+, passed it. I got cocky and waited 2 months to schedule the second part. Didn't study, failed by 2 points ><.

One month later they bring out the new A+ tests and the old one I passed is invalid.

$330 bucks = incinerated.

An employer paid for my A+ (which I passed easily, haha dyer.) I would never pay for an MS exam, I took an MS course once, their course material is seriously bad. Be prepared for hours of step by step procedures on how to do stuff (but not why to do it.)

fuck you! The part I failed was the OS part, do you honestly think I remembered menus from Windows 95? lol ><

It's ok, my whole class hated me for getting the highest score on the software portion (and I don't even use windows...)

lol, how did you know then? I remember tons of questions asking about what order you had to click things in for '95. I used '95 when I was 10 or so, but yeah...12 years ago.

In hindsight, I guess I should have taken a class. I bought this study guide online because it was 1/10th of the price taking a class was and I thought I could wing it. I thought wrong. Which brings me back to my point about the whole cert thing being so expensive and having your boss pay for it.

I've got my A+ first 3 levels of Cisco and MSCE classes as well. Employers paid for them all or I wouldn't of gotten them.

Really they're just a fancy way of dressing up your resume.

Yes but playing dress up with your resume is fun!

Greta, the easiest way to get your certs are to take pretest assessments like that and learn the course material on your own. That way you only have to pay for the tests themselves.

Certs are supposed to be representations of what you know, so I'd really only get certified in what you are planning on learning anyways.

If you need course material for a specific cert I may be able to see what I can drum up.
